504 and IEP Support
Clinical and Functional Evidence for Better-Informed School Review
NVOX helps school teams understand how ADHD-related findings connect to educational functioning and student support needs.
Each report brings together parent or caregiver input, school-based observations when available, functional evidence, assessment task performance, and clinician-authorized findings within one structured, reviewable record.
NVOX reports may inform school review and planning. Eligibility, services, accommodations, and implementation remain the responsibility of the school or district.
Clinical Assessment and Educational Eligibility
Related Questions. Different Decisions.
An NVOX assessment addresses clinical and functional questions. The school or district determines educational eligibility and the supports, services, or accommodations provided through its own processes.
Clinical Assessment
The assessment examines whether the available evidence supports an ADHD diagnosis, how the concerns affect functioning, and which clinical findings and recommendations are supported by the record.
Section 504
The school team determines whether the student is eligible under Section 504 and what aids, services, or accommodations may be appropriate to address the student’s individual educational needs.
IDEA and an IEP
The school or district determines whether the student meets IDEA eligibility requirements and requires specially designed instruction or related services through an IEP.
A student may be supported through a 504 Plan, an IEP, another school-based process, or no formal plan. An ADHD diagnosis can inform the review, but it does not by itself determine educational eligibility or the school response.
What an NVOX Report May Add to the Process
A Clearer View of Functioning, Sources,
and School-Relevant Evidence
An NVOX report organizes clinical, functional, family, and school-based information alongside assessment evidence to help the team understand what was documented, where concerns appear, and how the findings may relate to the student’s educational functioning.
Documented Functional Impact
The report describes how concerns may affect task initiation, sustained engagement, work completion, organization, regulation, transitions, independent work, and participation. It may also include supports already attempted and the student’s response to them.
Evidence Across Settings
Parent or caregiver information and school-based observations remain clearly separated, allowing the team to identify areas of agreement, meaningful differences, and missing information.
Assessment Evidence
Performance on structured tasks and interpretable digital, behavioral, or voice-derived signals may provide additional context for patterns of attention, response, and regulation observed during the assessment.
Clinician-Authorized Interpretation and Recommendations
The clinician responsible for the case reviews the full range of sources and evidence, determines their final clinical meaning, and authorizes the findings and recommendations under the selected clinical review pathway.
No questionnaire, assessment task, or digital measure independently determines a diagnosis or educational eligibility. Each finding is considered within the broader record and in the context of the student’s functioning.
How the Report Supports School Review
From Report Findings to Educational Relevance and Support Planning
An NVOX report helps the team connect clinical and functional findings to the student’s functioning in the educational setting and identify questions that require further review, planning, or monitoring within the school’s process.
Review Alongside Existing School Information
The team considers the report alongside academic performance, classroom observations, input from school staff, prior supports, and the student’s response to interventions already attempted.
Identify Educational Relevance
The team examines whether and how difficulties with attention, regulation, organization, or task performance affect access to instruction, participation, work completion, and the student’s ability to demonstrate knowledge.
Plan and Implement Support
The findings and recommendations may inform the team’s discussion of task structure, the presentation of instructions, independent work, testing conditions, transitions, and areas that may require additional supports or accommodations.
The appropriate school or district team determines which supports are appropriate and how they should be implemented.
Monitor and Continue Review
The team monitors the student’s response, identifies what is helping, determines whether adjustments are needed, and decides whether additional information or further evaluation is warranted.
The report organizes information and supports professional discussion. It does not replace the school’s evaluation process or determine eligibility, services, or accommodations.
NVOX Whisper™ for School Review
Locate Evidence Relevant to 504 and IEP Discussions
Authorized school psychologists and student support professionals can use NVOX Whisper to locate evidence within the record, compare information across settings, and understand which findings may be relevant to the team’s review.
Example Questions
Teachers and educators can receive role-appropriate guidance, based on the information available to them, that focuses on classroom implementation and continued observation.
NVOX Whisper helps professionals locate and understand relevant evidence more efficiently. It does not determine eligibility, create or amend a 504 Plan or IEP, or replace professional judgment.
School Authority
The Report Adds Context. The School Team
Determines the Educational Response.
The Report Adds Context. The School Team Determines the Educational Response.
An NVOX report may add clinical and functional information to the school’s review. The team considers it alongside school data, educator observations, prior supports and interventions, and the student’s response to them.
The appropriate school or district team determines whether additional information is needed and which services, accommodations, or supports are appropriate. Using the report does not replace the school’s evaluation process or alter the school or district’s responsibilities or applicable timelines.
A clinical diagnosis or recommendation may inform the discussion, but it does not by itself determine educational eligibility, services, accommodations, or supports.
